Save it for a rainy day

Good Evening!

How are we all on this horrendously rainy evening? I decided that as the weather was so awful today, I would stay in and do a little sewing. You may remember that some weeks back I posted this, after reading this tutorial over at Beach Vintage. I totally fell in love with Simone's little handkerchief tissue holders, and after winning a few vintage beauties on ebay, I decided that today was the day to make some myself.

I started off with a lovely coral candy striped hanky with flowers and bows.

Then I searched through my button jar and found these little shiny pink ones to finish off the edges. I am so pleased with it! It was so simple, but I feel like a genius!

Then I remembered Simone saying she could fold hers over to put in her hand bag, and the buttons gave me an idea...

I made another, with a blue flower button at one edge, and a button hole at the other. I might add that I love making button holes...I think it's the part where you rip it open with a seam ripper that I like. Anyway, this one can now be folded in half and buttoned together....

Like this! I do have a thing about old buttons, so I decided to add a few more. I think I'm actually in love with this one! I'm planning on making a few more for presents...so be warned friends, you will be receiving tissues for Christmas.

I have also made something else today which I am sooo pleased with, but I can't tell you because it is a Christmas surprise...or at least the second one will be...I do love making surprises.

Something else amazing happened today too, I was playing around with my UV light (supposed to be used for checking passports and bank notes are real...much more fun to turn out the lights and see what glows!) and found my supposedly clear nail varnish does this...

Incredible.  Or maybe it's just me that's excited...

Well, I'm now off to have a fish finger sandwich and a cup of tea...lovely

Happy Saturday
